Looking around the room, empty except the boxes, she shuddered realizing her whole life seemed insignificantly small fitting into so few boxes. Thirty years and life now taking a drastic new direction than she imagined it would. What she believed meant everything turned out to mean little to nothing to the other person sharing the life. Life as she knew it was finally over, almost as if it was all make believe.
Life changes in an instant sometimes, good sometimes bad but never expected. Lori's? (name) life always seemed to be changing, up to this point she never realized how truly unhappy she was. She'd been living in a house with a man she only now realized she never really knew, a stranger almost. She believed she was going to spend the rest of her life with this man. Opening her eyes for the first time in ten years seeing the dead relationship for what is was and always will be; a lie.
The couple shared so much in the ten years they spent together. Through all the ups and downs she always tried her best to make it work. They shared a beautiful little girl, a house, and dreams for the future. Turns out his dreams for the didn't include her. Soon after the purchase of the now empty home he decided it was not working anymore. He told her he was leaving, waking the next day he was already gone. She knew it was over and it was now her time to fly, time for a real change.
Her eyes damp as she thought back to the time this part of her life began.
The doors opened, revealing a beautiful bride about to walk down the isle. The man at the alter would soon be Lori's father. He was a wonderful man, a man that Lori could look up to and admire. The only downfall was he was a military man. Soon after the wedding they were set to move to his new duty station in a whole new state. She was 15 and not looking forward to starting over.
All her friends came to the party, to say goodbye. The hardest person for her to say goodbye to was her best friend of the last three years. Ryan was such a wonderful person he was always there when she needed him. They were inseparable. When she found out they would be moving after the wedding she ran straight to him, where she curled up into his embrace and cried herself to sleep. That is where she was when her mom came looking the next morning.
